EmpowerED Digital Superintendent of the Year Award
This award recognizes an outstanding district Superintendent who embodies empowered leadership, leveraging technology to drive transformation both in the classroom and across the district.
 
Eligibility:
  • School district Superintendents from public, charter, private, parochial, or independent schools are eligible.
  • Applicants must be members of CoSN or AASA - The School Superintendents Association.
  • CoSN Board members are not eligible for CoSN individual awards.
State Chapter Nominations: CoSN Chapters may submit one nominee per state for this award. If a chapter submits a nominee, no other submissions from that state will be considered.
 
Nomination Deadline: Nominations are due by November 18, 2024.
 
Application Instructions: You must complete the application in one sitting. Responses are limited to 200 words. Please review the following questions to prepare your answers:
 
  • Commitment to Innovation and System-Wide Buy-In: How has the nominee strengthened leadership across the district, from Cabinet members to principals and teachers? How does the nominee encourage innovation? Provide examples of how technology is used to improve communication throughout the organization and community.
  • Commitment to Equity: How has the nominee promoted and developed transformative and innovative learning opportunities for students at all levels, including diverse socioeconomic and ethnic groups? What role has education technology played in ensuring equitable access to learning?
  • Commitment to Improved Learning: Describe the nominee’s role in transforming pedagogy and fostering engaging learning environments across the district. How has the nominee shown commitment to continued staff development? Provide examples of how learning environments have improved under their leadership.
  • Measuring Impact: How does the nominee and their team measure the impact of student progress and engagement, especially with new assessment tools?
  • Community Leader: In what ways has the nominee given back to the broader education community?

Important Notice: If you are from Montana or Texas, you are not eligible to apply for this award. Both states have parallel state awards programs through their CoSN chapters. The winner of the state award is automatically considered for the national award. We encourage you to apply through your state program.
